The crystal clear green-turquoise shimmering mountain lake, with its small islands and the rugged mountain range, which rise steeply in the background from the densely wooded slopes, reminds of one of these postcard motifs of the Rocky Mountains. It is hard to believe, but we are in Germany, more precisely in Bavaria. Due to its special location, southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Lake Eibsee belongs to one of the most beautiful lakes of the Alps, nestled in a dreamlike mountain scenery at an altitude of almost 1000m above sea level.

I am regularly drawn to this magical place, especially the many bays of the northern shore with their varied views of the Wetterstein mountains, with Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, fascinate me again and again. Every season you can find very different motifs.

In spring, the deciduous trees shine in fresh green and give a beautiful contrast to the still snow-covered peaks.
In summer, when on beautiful days the bathers often confiscate the bays until late in the evening, the early morning hours in particular are illuminated by beautiful side light.
In autumn, the discoloured deciduous trees glow in the most beautiful yellow and red tones and do not need to hide from the Indian summer in the USA or Canada.
In winter, the lake dresses in a white splendour and seems to fall into hibernation.
