Bordering Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana, the giant flat-topped sandstone plateau of Roraima-Tepui has been the origin of myth and legend ever since it was discovered. With the combination of the native Pemón words 'roro' and 'imã', its name roughly translates to "great green-blue", with 'tepui' meaning "house of the gods". The Pemon and Kapon natives allegedly saw the mountain as the stump of a mighty tree that once held all the fruit and vegetables in the world. This great tree had been felled by a mythical trickster named Makunaima and as it crashed into the Earth it unleashed a massive flood.
Not only have over 1,000 unique plant species been discovered atop the tepui plateaus, but until the first ascent in 1884, others had also suspected that dinosaurs continued to roam this lost and elusive world.
With an exceptional appearance which has remained largely unchanged for 20 million years, we dedicate this model to this most mystical mountain.
